at least in Canada. Ever since some kid with those went down one of those plastic twisty slides at a playground and their mitt got caught in a seam on the slide and it somehow choked him/her to death or otherwise seriously harmed them. I don't recall what city that happened in or the exact details of the accident, but I don't believe you can buy those kind of mitts for kids anymore. (I know it sounds kinda funny, but I'm quite serious, this was not intended as a joke unfortunately).
